Pastor Paul Hibo van Engelenhoven is a native of The Netherlands. He was born as the last of three children to Mr. and Mrs. Bert and Marja van Engelenhoven.
Although born in a Dutch Reformed home, Pastor Paul strayed from the Christian faith at an early age and gave himself up to immorality. When he was about 17-years old he had a spiritual experience in which he thought to have felt the love of God. An experience which set him on a road to please God through holiness, evangelism, and missionary trips. Three years later, he went on a trip to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, believing that he came to bring the word of God to the Cambodians—God began to work on his heart. It was here on an evening, next to the genocide museum, that the good Lord showed him of his fallen condition and his hope without the new birth. Believing that there was no hope for him and that he would never be welcomed into heaven, he gave up hope. But it was there during that night that he heard the words of Isaiah 53 preached and faith flooded into his heart as he heard “it pleased the Lord to crush Him.” It was then and there that he realized that he also was welcome to the kingdom of God. From that moment on, everything was different—working for salvation had been gloriously transformed into working from Grace.
Pastor Paul obtained his B.A. degree in International Business Management Studies from the Hogeschool van Utrecht, he obtained his Master of Divinity from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, and he is currently working on his Ph.D. at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary.
In 2012, Pastor Paul was ordained as the preaching elder of de Christengemeente te Ermelo, he preached and pastored there until 2014. From 2016–2017, Pastor Paul co-led a prison ministry in Danville, Kentucky. From 2017–2018 he has been an itinerant preacher in Michigan and Ohio. Since 2019, Pastor Paul has preached and pastored at Seventh Reformed Church. In June of 2020, Pastor Paul became the 19th minister of Seventh Reformed Church.
