In Ezekiel 14:1-11, the Lord God reveals to the prophet that the elders and the people of Israel who seek help from God have set up idols in their heart. Will God hear their requests for help? If we hold on to idols in our heart, will God hear our requests? Rev. Paul van Engelenhoven answers these questions by describing who double-minded people are and God’s refusal to hear them, and then calls believers to single-minded worship and the promise of prayer.
“You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions. You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God?” (James 4:2-4)
