The Heidelberg Catechism (19): The Resurrection Power of the Real Gospel [Lord’s Day 17]

The so-called gospel that fills our land is a gospel of forgiveness without the power to transform—in short, it is a gospel without the power of the resurrection. The Heidelberg Catechism Lord’s Day 17 teaches, as the Scripture does, that the true gospel comes with an already present resurrection to a new life. Expounding this truth, listen as Pastor Paul van Engelenhoven preaches on Acts 26:12-18 on the resurrection power of the true gospel, the fruit of the true gospel, and the message of the true gospel.

The Lord Jesus Christ sent the apostle Paul to preach the gospel to the Gentiles in order “to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in [Jesus Christ].” (Acts 26:18)
