With Zechariah 8:1-3, we continue our survey of Bible books, focusing on the prophet Zechariah. The prophet receives eight visions revealing Israel’s hope, Israel’s need for repentance, and Israel’s coming Savior. Pastor Paul van Engelenhoven preaches a chiasm (literary device repeating concepts in reverse order) of eight visionary promises from God:
(A) Vision of a Horseman
(B) Vision of Horns and Craftsmen
(C) Vision of a Man with a Measuring Line
(D) Vision of Joshua the High Priest
(D’) Vision of a Golden Lampstand
(C’) Vision of a Flying Scroll
(B’) Woman in a Basket
(A’) Vision of Four Chariots
Pastor Paul also preaches a call for repentance to Israel and the promise of the Messiah.
“Thus says the Lord: I have returned to Zion and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem, and Jerusalem shall be called the faithful city, and the mountain of the Lord of hosts, the holy mountain.”
