I Am Fleshly, Having Been Sold Under Sin

In Romans 7:13-25, the apostle Paul continues his discussion of the law and sin. How do we understand his statement in verse 19? “For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing.” Pastor Paul van Engelenhoven presents three views: a picture of the normal Christian life, a picture of the religious Jew’s life, and a picture of the Christian who trusts his own ability to keep the Law.

“Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!”
