Lamentations: Poems of Deep Sorrow

Lamentations: Poems of Deep Sorrow

With Lamentations 3:31–33, we continue our survey of Bible books. The book of Lamentations describes the sorrow the Israelites felt after they experienced the destruction of Jerusalem and the Babylonian exile. Pastor Paul van Engelenhoven preaches the sorrowing widow, sorrow at the wrath of Yahweh, the afflicted man who has hope, the contrast between past and present, and prayer for restoration.

“For the Lord will not cast off forever, but, though he cause grief, he will have compassion according to the abundance of his steadfast love.”
